The Full Onboarding Process Explained
Detailed breakdown of what happens behind the scenes during regulatory verification.
-
Mobile number
Enter the mobile number you want registered on the account. Use a number that is linked to your Aadhaar, since later verification steps depend on it. This number will receive all trade and account alerts, so it should be one you personally control.
-
OTP verification
You will receive a one-time password. Enter it on the Trade Grow screen yourself. Nobody from Trade Grow needs it, will ask for it, or has any use for it.
-
PAN
Your PAN is mandatory for a trading and demat account under SEBI rules. It is validated against income tax records, and the name on your PAN must match the name on your bank account. A mismatch here is the single most common cause of rejected applications.
-
KYC information
Your address, date of birth, occupation, income bracket and other details required under KYC rules. If you are already KYC-verified with a SEBI-registered KYC Registration Agency, parts of this may be fetched for you, which shortens the process.
-
Bank details
The bank account that will be linked for funding and payouts. It must be in your own name — payouts can legally go only to your own account. Third-party transfers, including from a family member’s account, are not permitted.
-
Required verification
Depending on the segments you want, this can include in-person verification (typically completed digitally via a short video), a signature specimen, and income proof if you are activating derivatives. You will be told which apply to you before you begin.
-
e-Sign
You sign the account opening form electronically using the Aadhaar-based e-sign service. This generates an OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile. Once again: enter it yourself, on the official screen.
-
Application submission
Your completed application goes for internal verification and then for the regulatory steps required to open a trading and demat account. You will receive an application reference number — keep it, as support will ask for it.
-
Account status and activation
You can check your application status with your reference number at any point. On activation you receive your client code and demat details. Your welcome communication comes from our official channels only, never from an individual’s personal number.
What to keep ready
- PAN card
- Aadhaar, with your current mobile number linked to it
- A bank account in your own name, with account number and IFSC
- A signature on plain white paper, photographed clearly
- Income proof, only if you intend to activate F&O
- Nominee details, if you wish to add one at this stage
The precise list applicable to your application is shown inside the flow. Where this page and the application differ, the application is correct.
Before you complete KYC, consider doing this first
We would rather you opened an account having checked us than opened one quickly. If you have not yet:
- Verify our registration details against SEBI and the exchanges
- Read the full charge list, including charges outside the trade
- Compare us with what you use today
- Read the fraud red flags, which apply to every platform
None of that costs you anything, and an account opened after those checks is worth more to us than one opened before them.
Common reasons applications get delayed
Most rejections are avoidable and none of them are mysterious.
-
Name mismatch between PAN and bank account
Including initials, expanded surnames, or a maiden name on one and a married name on the other.
-
Mobile number not linked to Aadhaar
The e-sign step sends an OTP to the Aadhaar-linked number. If that is an old number you no longer use, the step cannot complete.
-
Unclear document images
Glare, crops that cut off an edge, or photographs of a screen rather than the document.
-
Signature mismatch
The specimen signature should match the one on your bank records, not a rushed version of it.
-
Missing income proof for derivatives
F&O activation requires income proof. Without it, the account can still open for equity, with derivatives added later.
Ready when you are
There is no countdown on this page and no offer expiring tonight. If you want to check something else first, that is the right instinct.
